Cookie Day! Dec. 15

Today we rode in the car again - and went through another Drive-thru and got fries! I really like these Drive-thru things! We went to another new place - cousin Diana & Kathy's for a thing mom calls "Cookie Day."

I got to see Millie again! And a new dog named Goldie who lives there. We all had fun playing all day. I was very good, though I guess I got under foot a little bit. Mom made cookies with her cousins, her aunt and her aunt's friend, Sue. Everyone laughed a lot and seemed to be having a really fun time.

Cookie-makers Marilyn (Millie's mom), Kathy and Nicole.

Kathy and Diana (Mary Ann in the background).

They put lights on the Christmas tree, too!

On the way home mom stopped at a Drive-thru again and got something called chicken nuggets at Wendy's. She gave me a few nibbles and they are really great! When we got home I was so tired from playing so much I took a long nap. Making cookies is really tiring but a LOT of fun!

Going Shopping at Easton - Dec. 9

Mama Pam was gone doing something she calls Christmas shopping this morning. But later in the day she got back and said I could go out with her to see the mall called Easton and all the holiday lights and decorations.

It was lots of fun to walk around and I was very good on the leash and stayed right with mom and didn't pull hardly at all. Lots of people stopped to ask what kind of dog I am and to say how cute I am! I get lots of attention and love it! Mom did complain that it was hard to get a picture of me... I can't make myself sit still long enough and I pop up before she can snap a good photo! Maybe I'll get the hang of it when I'm a little older.

It was pretty cold, I don't notice or mind, but mom didn't want to stay out very long so we came back home.

My First Visit to the Vet's Office - Dec. 4

Today I got to ride in the car again - and we went to a new place - called "the Vet's office." There were other kitties and doggies there coming and going. I met all sorts of friends. My mom says we will come back again in a month or so. Everyone says I'm so cute and wanted to cuddle me! They were all so nice, especially Dr. Melin. I didn't even mind the shot, but I really didn't like having nose drops -- that was pretty yucky! But it wasn't a big deal and it was pretty fun to go to there.

Dec. 1 - I conquer the big stairs!

I decided today that I'd try going up the really big stairs. They used to scare me so much and mom would carry me up to go to bed, but since I've been doing steps outside so much I thought I'd give it a try -- and you know it wasn't hard at all! The cats seem to do it real easy so I figured I could do it if THEY could!

Mom got very excited and told me what a big boy I was to do the STEPS! They are a bit slippery for me but I was really brave and just kept going.

Here I am at the top landing. Mom says the photos are grainy cuz it's kind of dark in the hall - it was also really hard for me to sit still for the photo because I was SO excited to explore a new place!

Baarlo goes to College!

Today was fun! Mom took me to Ohio State where she works and I got to meet a whole bunch of nice people! I even got to meet the Library Director and Pam's boss and her boss's boss - she really likes dogs. I met a lot of students on the Oval, too. We also went to another building called SEL and met Jim, Barry and Russ over there. I think everyone said that I'm very cute - and soft -- a lot of people think that I'm very soft.

Mom got food that thing called a drive-thru again and ate in the car. It was called Taco Bell and she gave me a few nibbles of her burrito shell, not as good as the fries, but I liked it, too. Then we went to a place called the "Short North" and went in a couple neat shops -- shops just for dogs! I was very good and didn't grab at the toys or anything. I just enjoyed the neat smells. The shop owner gave me a treat and took my photo and said that I'd go on her web site! She also thought I was very cute --  here's the link to their site -   Posh Pets FaceBook page

I had a really big day so I was REALLY tired when we got home so I took a very long nap and let mom get a bunch of stuff done. I hope we do more stuff like this because I had a blast!

Back to Aunt Paula's

At the end of the Thanksgiving day we got sad news and we came back to Aunt Paula's on Monday for a thing called a funeral - but I helped everyone not be quite so sad. We stayed for 3 nights and I was a really good boy -- even better than the last time, mom says. I hardly even made a peep when I had to go to bed in my travel kennel. As long as I can see that mom is in the room, I'm ok. But if she leaves I do cry a bit, ok, well, a lot. But I get scared that she'll leave me and I can't help it.

We had a lot of fun staying at Aunt Paula's and I got to run outside in the yard some more. I am learning that mom wants me to ring these jingle bells to let her know I want to go outside. It's kind of weird, but I guess that's what she wants so I'm trying to remember to do it.

Here's the people that mom was hanging out with - her pack family. There's Bob and Diana (they came from Tennesee) in the front, then Mary Ann and Dale, in back is mama Pam and then Aunt Paula and cousin Bob (he came from Florida!). I can tell they are a close family and we had a great time visiting with them. This photo was taken at a place called Marion's Pizza and they all seemed to like it a lot, but I'm a little annoyed that they didn't share any pizza with me - I had to stay at home in my crate.

Happy Thanksgiving!

It was Thanksgiving today - AND my 9 week birthday, too! We went on a really long car ride (mom said it was only an hour, but it's the longest I've been in the car yet) and went to a neat place that is called Aunt Paula's. It was a fun place full of really friendly people - I think they are my mom's pack, er, I mean family. They all seemed to like me a lot and I got a LOT of attention!

There was a nice dog there named Millie and we got to play outside a lot - boy Millie can run REALLY FAST! She tired me out! We even got to run without our leashes on in the back yard and play in the leaves. I also liked playing with Millie's toy, "cousin Larry." He's a lot like my hedgehog toy.

Thanksgiving is a fun holiday - and I can't wait for another one!

A Walk in the Park - Nov. 21

My mom took me for a really fun walk in the park nearby today. It was a really LONG walk and it was so much fun! There were so many fun things to smell and look at. Lots of people saw me and said that I am really cute. I think mom got frustrated at me because she had a hard time getting a photo of me - I can't help it, I want to run up to her whenever she gets that camera thingy out!

Mom thinks we might use this one for a holiday card. I gave a big smile for her! I hope we come back to this park again soon - I had a blast!

My Birthday! 2 Months old!

Today was my birthday - I'm two months old! Today was another busy day. We are going outside a lot and I'm starting to get used to that. I still make some mistakes in the house but I'm getting better. Mama Pam got some steps for me so I can get on the couch with her and I now have that down pretty well, but I prefer to jump off rather than go down the steps – it's quicker and much more fun!

We took a walk down the block and back and then we went to another pet store this afternoon. Everyone oohed and aahed over me again and wanted to pet me. I feel like a celebrity and Mama Pam is really proud of how nicely I am behaving. I didn't potty once in the stores and I sit nicely to meet people.  It's fun to go out and meet people. She snuck me into Target also - she put me in a big red cart. I wasn't too sure about it, but I played along. Four young girls got so excited to see me and started taking pictures of me with their cell phones. I felt very important! Everyone wants a puppy just like me!

Here I am in the car when we stopped to get gas, apparently that is what makes the car go. I was really good and didn't even bark once when Mama Pam got out to get the gas into the car. I don't why that was such a big deal, but Mama Pam was really pleased with me about that. She took me for treats at a place called KFC and we got popcorn chicken - it was pretty tasty. She thought I'd like that better than cake for my birthday.

Here's my new tag and collar that we got yesterday. Mama Pam says it's easier to use because it's bigger than the other one. I still think it itches and I don't really like collars but I guess I've got to get used to it.

I was really tired from my big day. I really like to sleep with my head on my water bowl. Mama Pam says that the doggie she used to have did that a lot, too. I think it's a Keeshond thing. I really like stomping my feet in it, too - it's great fun, though I don't think mom's too happy about it especially when I jump on her right after! I just can't help myself. I think it was a pretty neat birthday.

First Trip to the Pet Store!

Today was another busy day! We got to take a little walk down to the corner and back up. Then a little later we went in the car again – but for longer this time. We went to a place called the pet store and I had a great time. I was a big boy and didn't get too scared.

There were a lot of noises and people to watch – I really like to watch people to see what they are going to do, they are just fascinating.

I met a LOT of nice, friendly people and doggies. Everyone Oohed and Aaah'd over me and said I was the cutest puppy they EVER saw! I was very polite and sat quietly to meet everyone. Mama Pam seemed very impressed and surprised at my good behavior.... but that's the polite way to act and I knew it.

Here I am meeting Rocky, the Chihuaua... Mama Pam missed getting us touching noses - before we said hello like normal dogs. I met a Cockapoo named Roxy and two really noisy Bichon Frisees (I'm kind of glad they were in a cart, they were a little scary). Everyone said I was so soft and fluffy.

Mama Pam explained about how to say the type of dog I am.... a Keeshond, but you say it "Kayzhawnd" and most people don't know that.

I walked all around the store with Mama Pam and stayed right with her the whole time – she says that is very close to something called "heel" but I just like following her around. We came around one corner and I saw this really cute doggie and started checking him out. Then Mama Pam explained that it was ME! Well no wonder everyone said I was cute! I had no idea that's what I looked like!  Who knew?

I got a new collar and we also got an engraved tag for that kittie named Bromley, in case he gets out again (though between you and me I don't he's going to try that again any time soon). Two little girls came over to pet me very nicely while Mama Pam was getting the tag engraved. It's nice to get so much attention. The one thing that really scared me was these doors that opened and shut all on their own... that was just freaky!

Then on the way home Mama Pam said we'd go through a thing called a Drive-thru, whatever that is. I thought it was a good time for another nap. I really like to nap. But then I smelled this really great smell and got to eat these SUPER yummy things called fries. They were SO tasty! Wow. I hope we get more of those again.

Mama Pam also got some steps earlier today so I can get on and off the couch. I am starting to learn to use them to go up – now that she's making it worth my while by offering fries – but it's much easier to just jump off and I like how it scares the cats!

It was a big, busy day today!

Sunday and the Lost Kittie

Mama Pam says I was doing really well on my second day, I am learning to "sit" and "down" and I'm trying real hard to do the steps, but they are pretty scary. Mama Pam keeps carrying me when I get scared and don't know what to do.

Oh, you are wondering about the photo of the kitty? Well on Sunday he got outside when we went out so I could potty. But Mama Pam didn't know it cuz she was paying attention to me I guess. Well later when she realized that Bromley was missing she got REAL sad and upset. We went on a long walk looking for him. And later we went out in the car. Pam says I'm VERY good in the car and I behaved SO well. I didn't think it was any big deal really – I thought it seemed like a good place to try to take a nap, it was pretty relaxing, really.

But we didn't find the kitty and Mama Pam got sadder and sadder. I wanted to help but didn't know what to do. Finally, really late that night we went out so I could potty one last time before bedtime and we heard Bromley meowing! He was by those back steps (maybe they scare him, too) and Mama Pam was SO excited to find him. I am kind of glad, too, because he's the nicest to me of all the kitties. He treats me like a friend and even lets me lick him.

We all went up to bed and Bromley got to sleep on Mama Pam's bed, though I still had to be in my upstairs kennel. I don't really like it as much as my downstairs kennel, but it's ok, I guess.

My New Home

Wow I got to go to my new home. (It was Thursday, Nov. 15, at least that is what mama Pam says - I don't understand this thing called a calendar). I just know it was a stressful day but kinda fun, too. I got packed up in a car and got to go home with mama Pam tonight. I really like having my very own kennel-cage.... it's so snug I went right in and curled up. I also curled up and slept on the couch next to my new mama, she really seems to like when I do that.

There are a lot of cats here and they are fun to jump after - I think they are playing a game, so I am going to keep trying to catch them - it's a really fun game! One that seems to be called Bromley is really friendly. He and I cuddled up together on the couch. I think he's pretty neat.

I think I am going to like it here pretty well, but some stuff is kind of scary, like the steps out back. The leaves in the yard are really fun to play in though. There's a lot of new stuff I'm just not really sure about yet. But mama Pam keeps telling me what a good boy I am and I think I will like it here.

Another Visit for Me!

Hi, it's me again! I can tell I'm really special because I had another visitor again tonight. Yep, mama Pam came back to see me. I can tell she was really excited to see me, she held me for a long time and hugged me. I got to play with her, too.

Then I got brushed a little and mama Debbie trimmed my toenails. I didn't bark or anything. My sister - her name is going to be Apple I'm told – she's still barking quite a lot. That's ok with me, cuz she makes me look like a little angel. Well, ok, not when I pottied on the floor a couple of times. I'm sure mama Pam will show me how to not do that any more when I go to live with her.

Mama Pam says she will have to finish uploading photos of me tomorrow because she's got to get up early to go vote tomorrow. She helps to get to decide who the top Alpha dog of the whole country will be – I guess it's kind of a big deal. If I get yummy food and time to play I guess it won't make any difference to me.

Come back and see me again soon. I get to go home with Pam next week!

Got to see Mama Pam Again!

My new mama Pam came to see and visit me again tonight. We had a great time visiting again. She says it will only be a couple more weeks 'til I get to go to her home to live. But right now I'm having so much fun playing with my sisters so I don't know if I'm in a hurry to go anywhere just yet. I'm getting solid food now, but even though it's pretty yummy – eggs, cottage cheese and other stuff, I still kinda like my mom's milk the best.

My sister – the feisty one that Mama Debbie calls "Kinky" cuz her tail was more kinky early on – has been barking so much she's almost lost her bark and is so hoarse she's squeaking now! Serves her right for being so noisy! She's a bit of a drama queen I think. She's cute and she knows it. Me, I'm a bit more laid back. I really like the silver metal water bucket that we have, it helps me chill out and I like how cool it feels. Mama Pam says she will try to find one for me at her house since I like it so much – I think that means she'll be a nice momma!

And here's a video of me playing:

Hello!

Hi, I'm new here... I mean REALLY new! I'm a 5-week-old Keeshond puppy. My mom, my human-mom, that is, thought it would be a great idea if she kept a blog for me so I could share stuff with you. I'm not exactly sure what that means since I barely know anything about the world just yet, other than I really love to eat, sleep and play with my two sisters, but if my mom-to-be thinks it's good, then I'm sure it must be.

I was born to my real doggie mom, Jammers on September 20th. It was really early in the morning. My doggie papa is called Fire and he belongs to Debbie and Robin who are raising me until I get to go to my forever home with my adoptive mom, Pam. But that won't be for several more weeks now. Pam has come out to visit me a couple of times and I can tell that she's really excited to get to meet me. I licked her nose and cuddled with her and she seems pretty cool. Right now I mostly play with my two sisters and enjoy eating as much as I can - I'm a pretty tubby thing from what they are telling me, I guess.

I'm sure my human-mom will leave more updates when she gets to see me again and even more stuff when I get to go home with her. She tells me I get to meet more cats, there's only one where I live now and I don't get to play with her too much yet. I hope the new cats will be fun! I think my mom has some pictures of me and videos to share, too.

Here's a video when I was 10 days old, I don't remember this, but mom says I was pretty cute!  Baarlo video at 10 days old

Here's a video of that day and I'm singing a little song - I was really happy! Baarlo singing a little puppy song

And here's another video mom made using pictures she took of me (she seems to like doing stuff like that). Video Montage of Baarlo at 2 and 4 weeks old

Well I got my shots today and I'm pretty pooped so I'm gonna go. See ya again soon!
